About the tournament

The Abierto GNP Seguros achieves in this edition 2019 one of the highest levels by presenting jointly competitions in the women's and men's branches, in the style of the big capitals of the world, like London, New York, France and Australia, among others.

The Women's Edition is part of the WTA tour and the men's edition belongs to the ATP Challenger Tour, ATP development circuit.

The women's edition has an International level with a prize bag of 265,000 dollars and is considered one of the best tennis tournaments in Latin America, a position that has been consolidated over the years and has counted with renowned players who have been number one of the world.

This time it will be attended by three former world number 1; Angelique Kerber, Garbiñe Muguruza and Victoria Azarenka. Also has her consents Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, top winner in Monterrey, with four titles; and Timea Babos, finalist in 2018.

The men's edition will have a bag of 165,000 dollars, this bag offers us the possibility of having players located among the best 50 of the world ranking, raising considerably the level of play, as in previous years they could play tennis with ranking below that level, they should now look for their qualification.

The realization of this type of tournaments also helps the growth of the Mexican tennis with the distribution of wild cards to the most outstanding players of the country and of the city.

Thus, the Abierto GNP Seguros will return to the city in the eyes of the world to compete in a first-level venue, such as the GNP Seguros Stadium, which will vibrate again with the presence of a high tennis.
